Lin Wan, a Beijing advertising professional, returns to her grandmother's home in the Dabie Mountains after her grandmother's passing. While sorting through belongings, she finds a red cloth bag at the bottom of a trunk—inside is a faded half-diary from 1975, in which her grandmother wrote about a promise with educated youth Chen Mo: "When the hills are covered with azaleas, we'll get married."
