He Resembles the Azure Stream
He Resembles the Azure Stream Plot:
Su Wan, a cultural relic restorer, travels alone to an ancient town in northern Sichuan to restore a broken Song Dynasty painting *Azure Stream*—all to fulfill her grandfather's dying wish of "Qingchuan". Unexpectedly, Gu Chuan, the forest guardian, not only looks identical to the boy in the painting but also acts like a cold stone, blocking her from touching the painting at every turn. Yet it's also him who carries her through muddy roads on a rainy night and holds a lantern to accompany her in searching for restoration materials in the cold. As the cinnabar marks hidden in the painting emerge, Su Wan is shocked to discover: Gu Chuan's family has guarded the painting for 800 years, and he himself is the "reincarnated spirit" of the boy in the painting—every hundred years, he must return to the painting to maintain the ecological balance of Qingchuan. When the last stroke is completed, Gu Chuan's figure begins to fade. Only then does Su Wan understand: "He resembles the azure stream" was never a metaphor, but a fate written long ago—what she fell in love with was never a person, but a river that can never be kept.
