The Wutong Rain & Lingering Bells Plot:

Restorer Su Wan acquires a damaged ancient painting from the old town, only to find the umbrella-holding man in it is identical to the one she dreams of every night. On a rainy night, the bronze bell in the old house suddenly rings, and Gu Zhao, the man in the painting, steps out through the rain—he’s a Southern Song Dynasty painter trapped in the artwork for 800 years, all because of an unfulfilled promise with a woman who once held an umbrella for him. But as Gu Zhao stays longer, the wutong leaves in the yard fall at a visible pace, and strange red spots start appearing on Su Wan’s wrist. Will she let her lover remain trapped, or risk her life to fulfill the thousand-year-old promise? Every ring of the bell in the night rain counts down their time together.
