The Moonlight on the Courtyard Plot:

An elderly woman lives alone in an old Xiguan courtyard. Every night, she sits on a bamboo chair under the moon, caressing a faded embroidered handkerchief. Her granddaughter Ruan, who just returned home after a breakup, thinks her grandma is just reminiscing—until she finds old yellowed love letters in a wooden box. Fifty years ago, the grandma made a promise with Master Lin from the textile factory: "Meet in the courtyard when the moon is full." But Lin was sent to support the border and lost contact. On the night Ruan helps her grandma post a search online, the courtyard's wooden gate creaks open—an old man with a cane stands in the moonlight, holding the same faded handkerchief, and whispers: "I remembered our moonlight promise."
