The Promotion Game: A Best Actor's Exclusive Tutoring
New actress Su Wan is fighting for the second female lead role of "A Ruan, a 1930s Shanghai dance girl" in a Republican-era drama, only to be rejected by the director for "acting like an empty shell". When she's at her wit's end, Gu Chengzhou, a best actor who has been retired for three years, unexpectedly offers "exclusive tutoring". However, Gu is uncharacteristically harsh—forcing her to wear 1930s cheongsams and walk on three-inch bound feet in old alleys, teaching her the lost song *Evening Primrose* with red-rimmed eyes, and even forbidding her from using "acting" to understand A Ruan. It's not until Su stumbles upon Gu's old photo album that she discovers the dance girl in the pictures—Gu's missing mother and A Ruan's prototype—bears a 70% resemblance to her. When Su finally brings A Ruan to life with "empathy", Gu's three-year secret comes to light: he retired due to cyberbullying over his mother's identity as a dance girl, and Su, who once saved him from drowning, had told him, "I want to play roles with the most heart." Now they must face the entertainment industry's promotion game together, while healing each other's unspoken regrets.
