Unmet in the Mortal World Plot:

After three years of grinding as a copywriter in Beijing, Su Wan has almost given up hope of finding a soulmate who truly gets her. Trapped at a subway station during a sudden heavy rainstorm, she runs into Lu Yu, a man carrying a box of old books. Lu Yu can always pinpoint the hidden emotions in her copy, and even remembers every trivial little preference she’s ever mentioned casually. But when Su Wan summons the courage to ask about his past, Lu Yu vanishes without a trace, leaving only a vague line: “I’ve waited too long.” Later, she finds the old poetry collection he left behind, and the inscription on its title page is exactly the same as the one in her long-lost childhood book.
