Grandma's Old Cotton-Padded Jacket Plot:

Beaten by career setbacks in Beijing, Lin Xiaoman returns to her hometown to sort through her late grandmother’s belongings. She finds an off-white, patchwork cotton-padded jacket at the bottom of the camphor wood chest. Just about to throw it away as outdated, a stack of yellowed receipts and unsent letters fall out of its lining: proof of Grandma’s odd jobs at the textile factory to fund her son’s education, plus candy wrappers and a peace charm she secretly sewed into the jacket for young Xiaoman.
