The Commoner Confucian Sage Plot:

Down-on-his-luck scholar Chen Mo is a hidden inheritor of Confucian wisdom, choosing to live a humble farming and reading life away from worldly disputes. When a local tyrant seizes clan lands and drives villagers to despair, even driving a righteous old scholar to suicide, Chen initially wants to endure and uphold his principles. But after witnessing the tragedy, he resolves to fight back. Using Confucian rites to defuse the tyrant's threats and worldly wisdom to expose his corruption plot, he saves the villagers' properties and wins everyone's respect, becoming a beloved Confucian sage among the countryside folks.
