Northeast Era: Defending Mom the Hard Way Plot:

In the 1990s at an old industrial base in Northeast China, Daguang, an aimless young idler, catches his mother being maliciously harassed by a factory boss who owes wages and tries to welch on the debt. The initially evasive Daguang, glancing at his mother’s hunched back and recalling how she protected him as a kid, turns tough immediately. He waits outside the factory to reclaim the wages, teams up with other cheated workers, and even confronts the boss head-on. Having to handle the boss’s threats and calm his mother’s worries, he finally gets justice for his mom with Northeast people’s boldness and uprightness, and finds his lost sense of responsibility.
