The reclusive Heavenly Master Su Muyan expends half his cultivation to save Chu Yan, the Prince of Northern Town, from evil spirits, only to be forced into three years of "personal servitude" by Chu in the name of "repayment". From then on, the celestial master becomes a servant—his fingers no longer form spells but tie shoelaces, his lips no longer chant incantations but taste poisoned wine.
