Echo of the Heartbeat Plot:

Lin Xiaoman has a secret—she can hear the echo of the heartbeat of someone she crushes on, like the low-frequency tremor in an old tape. In high school, she secretly recorded the heartbeat of top student Zhou Yuchuan, only to watch him disappear with the engraved pen she gave him on the day before graduation. Seven years later, Xiaoman is admitted to the hospital due to progressive deafness, and her attending doctor is Zhou Yuchuan—but she can no longer hear his heartbeat. It turns out Zhou Yuchuan had a heart transplant due to congenital heart disease back then, and Xiaoman’s ears were damaged in a car accident while looking for him. When Xiaoman cried holding the old recordings, saying, “I’m almost losing your echo,” Zhou Yuchuan opened her notebook and found a note he wrote years ago on the last page: “I heard it—your heartbeat, louder than the tape.”
