Lin Xiaoman returns to her childhood alley to keep her grandfather’s “Sweet Garden” dessert shop, only to reunite with Chen Mo—the neighbor boy who vanished a decade ago. Now he’s the real estate leader pushing the alley’s demolition. Every night after closing, Chen Mo sits on the old rattan chair sipping ginger milk, fixing her askew lamp sign like he did ten years prior; but by day, he hands her demolition notices with a stone face. When Xiaoman finds Chen Mo’s hidden old photo—a childhood snapshot of them under the alley lamp, with “Wait for me to come back and stay with you” on the back—she realizes this “standoff” holds unspoken regrets.
