Su Wan, a star official who fell to the mortal world while protecting the collapsing Star River, must undergo nirvana to return to her post. She takes the name "A Wan" and spends three years with Gu Zhao, a poor scholar—sharing tea, reading together, and falling in love. As the nirvana deadline nears, she prepares to leave quietly, hiding her identity—until Gu Zhao kneels with her lost star map, weeping: "I’ve known you’re from the sky all along, but I’ll give everything to send you back to your Star River." When the ascension light cuts through the night, Gu Zhao lights thousands of paper lanterns inscribed with "May A Wan’s wish come true." The lanterns merge with the Star River, and Su Wan’s tear, falling into his palm, becomes the brightest star.
