Blooms Fade, You Remain Plot:

Lin Xiaoman has guarded "Hua Ying Shop" at the old alley for a decade, selling jasmine in spring and osmanthus in autumn—a promise with her childhood sweetheart Chen Mo: "Wait for me to earn enough abroad, then we'll expand the shop nationwide." This year, the alley faces demolition. Xiaoman clings to the last jar of osmanthus sugar, only to be met by Chen Mo's assistant: "Mr. Chen says we're buying this land; demolition starts tomorrow." Heartbroken, Xiaoman smashes the jar—revealing Chen Mo's note: "I bought jasmine in Boston just like yours, but I dared not tell you—I have a lung tumor. I feared you'd cry." Then, a wheelchair rolls in. Chen Mo, wearing an oxygen mask, holds the jasmine hairpin Xiaoman gave him years ago: "I didn't earn enough money, but I earned ten years of flowers—each one is a day I missed you."
