Huai'an, My Yearly Longing Plot:

Su Huai'an left Lin Suishi three years ago because of his "heartlessness". Since then, she has received an anonymous box of osmanthus cakes every birthday——a promise they made to "share them every year" under the osmanthus tree in their old yard. This year, she returns home to handle the old house. Pushing the door open, she sees Lin Suishi crouching beside the osmanthus tree in a yard full of fragrance, with freshly steamed osmanthus cakes beside him. The old notebook in the drawer is open, every page written with: "Year X, osmanthus bloomed, miss Huai'an". When Lin Suishi looks up and sees her, his voice trembles: "I thought I'd wait forever." It turns out he was diagnosed with a terminal illness back then and pretended to be heartless to avoid dragging her down. Those osmanthus cakes are his "longing" brewed over three years.
