Osmanthus Steam Plot:

At the old alley’s "Gui Xiang Ge" osmanthus cake shop, Zhang Xiaotang has guarded her "grandma’s taste" for ten years—the traditional cakes, which only release fragrance when osmanthus is fully steamed, hold her childhood memories with Lin Shen: they once squatted by the stove stealing grandma’s osmanthus honey, and Lin Shen promised to marry her and stay with the shop. But now, Lin Shen stands at the shop door in a suit with a demolition contract, with excavators ready to devour the old alley behind him. Xiaotang clutches grandma’s silver hairpin, eyes red: "Did you forget the promise to wait for the osmanthus to steam open together?" Lin Shen’s eyes redden, but he shoves an old photo into her hand—it’s a childhood photo of them holding osmanthus cakes, with a note on the back: "I’m trying to save the alley." The wind carries osmanthus fragrance into the shop, and the cakes in the steamer are steaming, just like that summer years ago.
