The Past Hidden in the Dried Fish Shop
The Past Hidden in the Dried Fish Shop Plot:
Lin Xiaoman grew up in her grandfather's "Fuxing Dried Fish Shop". After her grandfather's death, she had to resign from her Beijing job and return home to inherit the shop. While sorting out his belongings, she found an old account book locked in a wooden box—each page had a faded half candy wrapper with the words: "A Ruan, today's dried fish sold for three wen, enough to buy your favorite osmanthus candy". At this moment, Gu Shen, a man in a dark blue windbreaker, suddenly came to the door, saying he was looking for the jade hairpin his grandmother had left in the shop—it was a token of love between his grandmother and "Ah Lin of the Fish Shop". Xiaoman thought he was a liar at first, but in Gu Shen's old photo, she saw her grandfather standing in front of the fish shop with a girl in a blue cloth shirt (A Ruan) when he was young. As they searched for old items and pieced together memories, the past of her grandfather who dared not propose because of poverty and A Ruan being forced to marry someone else gradually emerged. Gu Shen's arrival also awakened Xiaoman's dusty original intention: the small fishing town she had tried so hard to escape from held the warmest "unfinished story".
