Biologist Lin Xiaoman joins a research vessel to explore the mysterious "Giant Beast Island," only to suffer a shipwreck when the hull hits a reef, losing all her companions. In despair, she encounters Chen Mo, a former special forces soldier—this man carries a tattered military map and claims there’s a rescue signal source hidden on the island. But to reach it, they must traverse the "Mist Valley" dominated by invisible giant lizards. From mutual distrust to forced collaboration, they uncover a shocking secret behind the signal source: the "giants" are likely remnants of human experiments, tied to the disappearance of islanders. With a sea storm set to seal off the island in three days, they must gamble their last breath to escape, caught between the lizards’ hunt and the backlash of the truth...

Starting with a City: I'm the Boss on the Frontier
Lin Chuan, a modern office worker, died from overworking. When he woke up, he found himself as the young lord of Duanyun City—a frontier fortress abandoned by the Dayan Dynasty. The city was doomed to fall to the Beidi cavalry the next day, with only 300 old and weak soldiers left and half the city wall in ruins. But Lin Chuan refused to give in: he repaired the wall in three days using modern engineering, recruited bandits with hot pot recipes, wiped out the Beidi vanguard with guerrilla tactics, and even formed an alliance with the Beidi Khan's sister. When 100,000 Beidi troops besieged the city, he stood on the wall and laughed: "You think you can touch my city?" Since then, Duanyun City became the toughest "nail" on the frontier, and Lin Chuan transformed from a "disgraced young lord" to the "Boss of the Frontier". Even when the emperor sent envoys to invite him back to the capital, he waved his hand: "Being a local emperor here is way better—why go back?"
