Lin Chuan is the laughingstock of Qingqiu Village—a “suona loser” who’s guarded the village’s “cursed ancient tomb” with his grandfather for 18 years. Until one Mid-Yuan Festival night, the tomb door bursts open, and black mist full of ancient evils and vengeful spirits engulfs the village. As villagers flee screaming, Lin Chuan remembers his grandfather’s last words: “When the suona sounds, our ancestors’ souls wake—this tomb must be buried by our Lin family alone.” Clutching his family’s bronze suona, he plays the *Soul-Calming Melody* his grandfather taught him a thousand times. To his shock, golden-red guardian runes explode from the notes, and the spirits devoured by evils start kneeling to the rhythm. From the tomb’s depths comes a familiar, old voice: “Xiao Chuan… finally, you’re here to take over…”
