My Dad Isn't a Wimp Plot:

Lin Xiaoman, a high school sophomore, dreads parent-teacher meetings most—her dad Lin Jianguo is the “nice guy” security guard in the neighborhood, always teased by classmates: “Your dad can’t even twist open a bottle of mineral water.” Until her birthday night, she’s cornered in an alley by the school bully for rejecting his confession. Huddling in the corner, crying and fumbling with her phone, she sees her dad in a security uniform holding a flashlight. He swiftly pins the punching bully against the wall, the old scar on his knuckle pale pink: “When I chased drug dealers over three mountains, you were still in diapers.” It turns out the “wimpy dad” who always helps neighbors pick up packages and never gets mad when kids snatch his candy is a retired anti-drug cop of ten years—all the “cowardice” was his way of hiding his edge, just to give her a stable childhood.
