Lin Xiaoman is the tsundere little childhood friend that Jiang Ci has “been annoyed by since childhood” — she steals his comics, steps on his white shoes, yet always peeks at his profile when he’s doing homework. Jiang Ci pretends to be bothered, but secretly keeps her little habits: her milk needs two sugars, she grabs his衣角 when afraid of the dark, and her ear tips turn redder than cherry blossoms when she peeks. The night before the college entrance exam, Xiaoman cries and hands him a love letter but insists it’s “a game loss”. Jiang Ci is about to expose her when a call about his grandmother’s critical illness makes him leave in a hurry. When he returns, Xiaoman has gone abroad, leaving only a box of nougat and a note saying “I don’t like Jiang Ci at all”.
