When the Evening Stars Shine Plot:

Lin Xiaoman, a planetarium restorer, has a habit of climbing to the rooftop after overtime to photograph evening stars with an old telescope—it’s a promise she made with her childhood friend “Xiao Xing”. Until one day, a boy in a white shirt suddenly appears in the lens: he always waters blue star flowers on the opposite balcony and occasionally smiles at the telescope. When Lin finally works up the courage to talk to him, the boy hands her a yellowed starry sky drawing: “Xiaoman, I’m Gu Xingye—the one who promised to count evening stars with you.” It turns out the separation ten years ago was his way of preparing for a reunion—for her love of evening stars, he became an astrophotographer and even moved across the street on purpose. When the light spots in the old telescope overlap with the person in front of her, Lin realizes that the regrets she buried under overtime have long been secretly returned by the evening stars.
