Famine Year: A Steamed Bun as a Token of Love
Famine Year: A Steamed Bun as a Token of Love Plot:
In a famine-stricken year, Wang Yuncheng, the legitimate son of the Northern Town Prince, was hunted down by traitors and collapsed in a broken temple. He was saved by Yi Chen, a refugee girl who had saved a steamed bun for three days. Unaware of his identity, Yi Chen saw him as a fellow sufferer and gave him half of her last bun when they parted, saying, 'Only alive can we meet again.' Three years later, Wang Yuncheng quashed the rebellion and ascended the throne. When he finally found Yi Chen, he learned she was imprisoned as a 'traitor's daughter'—it turned out Yi Chen's father was the loyal minister who had shielded his father with his life, and the half bun contained the late emperor's edict of succession. Rushing into the prison with the bun, Wang Yuncheng saw Yi Chen biting a dried bun saved from prison food, smiling: 'I knew you'd come for the other half.'
