Qing Huan, an ancient book restorer who mends regrets in old books with her fingertips, has her life upended by Gu Shiyan—who arrives with a yellowed *Collected Yuefu Poems*. His brow, the way he flips pages, is identical to Lin Shen, her lover who vanished five years ago. Even more coincidental: the book holds a note she wrote back then: "Next time, let's see the plums." Gu claims to be Lin Shen's cousin, but his grip on the restoration knife, the sweetness of his ginger tea—all match Lin Shen's exactly. As Qing Huan restores the book, she searches desperately for proof he's "not him," only to find Lin Shen's diary in the spine: "I didn't leave. I just didn't dare come back as myself, afraid you'd blame me." When the last page is fixed, Gu takes out the plum-blossom hairpin Lin Shen promised—Qing Huan finally understands: old dreams aren't meant to be "farewelled"—they're meant for someone to piece into something new.
