Su Xiao, an ancient book restorer, pieces together old memories during the day and works as a "late-night listener" at a lane-side used bookstore after dark. One day, she finds half an unfinished love letter signed "A Shu" in a Republican-era book she's restoring. That same night, Lin Shen, the mysterious man who often visits the bookstore, finally speaks—he's waiting for a reply from A Shu's old flame. As Su Xiao tracks down the other half of the letter, she discovers Lin Shen is the "A Shu" from decades ago, and the book's owner was her late aunt. When the other half of the letter, hidden by her aunt for a lifetime, resurfaces, is Lin Shen's tenderness towards Su Xiao a compensation for the past, or a genuine love that transcends time?
