Zhaodi's Resolve Plot:
In 1990s rural China, Zhaodi secretly learns tailoring to escape her patriarchal family. When she wins a garment factory exam, her father burns the admission letter to force her into marriage. Fleeing with her sewing machine at night, she doesn't know the village chief's son - who's loved her for years - is racing to petition the county with a petition signed by the whole town.
